Words of wisdom from Seltzer Jim...

My friends, I would like to share with you a great lesson that I learned this past weekend. Saturday morning I awoke with sort of an empty feeling inside. We'd played a smokin' show in Hartford, CT, but I'm not going to lie to you, the road was starting to take its toll on yours truly. See, we'd been out there for a full day and I was now lookin' down the barrel of the business end of a forty minute drive to New Haven. Just the thought of it made my bones weary. With only eight hours of sleep and no end in sight, I finished my poached eggs and choked down my mimosa. I knew that I would need the calories for the long stretch ahead. I grabbed my Louis Vuitton bags and checked out of the Presidential Suite at the Ritz-Carlton. I heaved a heavy sigh as we all crowded into the stretch limo and prepared ourselves for the marathon that lay ahead.

I missed my family, my life, my freedom.

Seltzer Jim, sensing my dark state of mind inquired,
"What's eatin' at you, Rick (he sometimes calls me Rick)?"

"Oh, nothing, Jim (I sometimes call him Jim). I think the 1988 Perrier Jouet Fleur didn't agree with me last night," I offered, "Hey, maybe I'm just sick of super models, oh I don't know..."

But Seltzer Jim Davis is a man of deep spiritual depth and would not be held at arm’s length by my weak response. He knew. He got it. Just then, this man...this philosophical soothsayer...this mystic of the open road said something to me that would change my life forever. A pearl of wisdom that I will take with me to my grave. He said the following:

"Ricky boy (he sometimes calls me Ricky boy), the road is a harsh mistress...so
SNAP THE F**K OUT OF IT, YOU F**KING CREAMPUFF!!!
You gonna eat them fish eggs, Nancy Boy?"

God bless you, Seltzer Jim. God bless you.
